Grow Healthy Long Hair - The Beaux Book - PINK BEAUX

VIA

Late night paid programming will tell you that “for the low low price of $69.99 per bottle, you too can grow mid-back length hair overnight!”  Ok…That’s an exaggeration yet the grain of truth is that the majority of us all desire long beautiful locks free from breakage and damage.  Hair holds significant social, cultural, and political weight while being one of the leading types of adornment along with color cosmetics.

While some of us see right through those bewitching grow-hair-quick schemes, many of us have fallen victim to tricky marketing in an effort to reach our personal hair goals.  The news none of us want to believe is that there is no magic pill or potion that will give us long bountiful hair within a matter of hours but there are things you can do to give you your best hair of hair ever.

Here at The Beaux Book, we are assembling a team of experts to bring the best-in-industry skin care, makeup, lifestyle and hair tips and tricks to your fingertips.  Our editors recently had the opportunity to sit down with international hair and image stylist Brandi Nichole (Instagram – @BrandiNicholeINTL) who has spent the majority two-decade-long cosmetology career educating clients and colleagues on natural and healthy hair care.

Brandi Nichole Quote - The Beaux Book - PINK BEAUX

Brandi on growing and retaining length…

“While there have been some untraditional techniques to increasing and retaining hair growth, it is actually quite simple to do. My #1 tip is to develop a consistent hair care regimen.  As women, we have failed to properly educate ourselves on the practices required to maintain the integrity of our hair. Your hair care regimen not only must be consistent but should also contain professional products. This will help with maintaining your pH level.”

Our editors emphasize keeping hair care regimens as simple as possible regardless of hair texture and density, or if you are a regular user of heat and chemical services.  We live for the basic 5-step hair care regimen that includes shampooing, conditioning, applying leave-ins and styling products, health styling practices and regular trims.

Brandi’s thoughts on drug store/beauty supply products vs professional hair products…

“Using beauty supply products is not recommended due to the length of time many of them sit on the shelves leading to products reaching their expiration date before purchase. Expired products are largely ineffective. You should be willing to invest in professional products and create a hair care regimen based on your current issues and your desired end result and a successful hair care regimen should be provided by a licensed professional hairstylist. Once this has been achieved, increasing and retaining hair growth becomes very simple.”

We have been loving the Quidad Ultra-Nourishing Cleansing Oil Shampoo, a gentle yet effective cleanser of all hair types.  Our favorite deep treatments are split between the OUAI Treatment Masque, a healing hair mask that leaves strands silky and smooth without adding weight to strands and the Kerastase Masque Therapiste Hair Mask, ideal for more dense, chemically treated, or heat stressed hair.  The Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream is a super luxurious frizz-calming leave-in that pair perfectly with Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Hair Oil.

In the end Brandi states…

“The question may be ‘How consistent should I be with my regimen?’ vs ‘How do I grow longer, healthier hair?’ Hair care is should be custom for each person, however, I recommend intensive practices at least every two weeks or once a month. Your regimen should definitely be a part of your budget and daily life for overall success in reaching your hair goals.”
